Precautions In Use

Soldering Conditions

  • Maximum allowable soldering conditions are:
    • Solder dipping:  260ºC maximum, 5 seconds maximum, one time.
    • Soldering iron:   350ºC maximum, 5 seconds maximum, one time.
  • Do not make contact between the molten solder and the resin.
  • Do not adjust the soldered position after soldering.
  • Do not put any stress on the leads, particularly when heated.

Lead forming and cutting

  • Lead forming must be done below the tie bar cutting portion.
  • Do not stress the resin case when forming a lead.
  • When lead forming requires cutting of the lead, the lead must be cut before soldering.
  • Cutting of a lead must be done at room temperature.

Assembly

  • Do not put any stress to the lead frame during an assembly operation.
  • When mounting or inserting products into PCBs, the pitch between the mounting holes musts match the pitch of the lead frame.

Static Electricity and Over-Voltage/Over-Current Protection

  • Handle With Care!  --  These products are sensitive to static electricity charge.
  • Voltage and Currents which exceed the Absolute Maximum Rating of the Products will damage and possibly cause electrical destruction of the Products.
  • A protection device, which does not exceed the maximum rating for the surge current during on/off switching, should be included as part of the LED driving circuitry.
  • Proper grounding of Products (via 1Megohm resistor):
    • Use a conductive mat.
    • Use semi-conductive working uniform and shoes.
    • Use semi-conductive containers.
  • When grinding, the use of a resisting element, such as a conductive mat, is effective in eliminating static electrical discharge where the Product directly touches a low resistive part, such as a metal face.
  • The tip of a soldering iron should be connected to ground.
  • An ionizer should be installed where there is a high risk of static generation.

NOTE:  Users are required to verify the above listed countermeasures when problems occur due to static electrical discharge.

Safety Precautions

  • The light output of the Products may cause injury to the human eyes in circumstances where the Products are directly viewed for more than a few seconds.
  • Users are requested to comply with the laws of public regulations concerning safety.
